Ah, Hayate indeed. A rather uneventful episode for HnG, made to set up the premise for future ones. The comedy was decent and stayed true to the series itself, but not much really sticks out. While there are some funny scenes, the episode stays a bit mediocre in its plot. Hopefully this is just a precursor to greater events, and it sure looks that way at least.
The school academy trio of girls don’t seem very interesting themselves, and I even find Nagi to be a more interesting character than Hinagiku. Also, it needs more Maria. But then again, it’s still pretty early in the series to toss aside all extra judgment. Overall, the series is still stuck between a decent (6) and a good (7) rating, as it varies a bit in its quality of comedy – sometimes it’s too repetitive or basic and other times it plays out slapstick gags and funny references with attuned timing.
